The good old British weather had our nerves jangling at the beginning of April leading up to Rachel and Iain's big day: the forecast was for heavy rain pretty much all day! However, on the day, not only did it not rain but the sun even came out and it was actually warm! All the signs were there for a great day to come! 

A lovely, personal ceremony took place in Tadcaster Church with Rachel and Iain's close friends and family. Other members of their community also came along at this stage to witness the wedding which, as Vicar Sue commented, was testament to the level of local love and support for the couple. The readings were beautiful, including one from Rachel's son Charlie. Such confidence from such a young man! After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed the weather outside the church for a little while before moving on to the reception venue, while I grabbed the newlyweds for a few couple shots.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed the weather outside the church for a little while before moving on to the reception venue, while I grabbed the newlyweds for a few couple shots.This always a great opportunity for the bride and groom to have a little breather (with lots of kisses and cuddles!), just the two of them, for the first time since they said, "I do".

Following this was a wonderful afternoon tea and speeches in the adjacent Sunday School building with homemade cakes and sarnies galore. Nom nom! The room looked so pretty, decorated with Spring flowers and beautiful vintage crockery. 

I loved the speeches! Rachel's Dad had everyone wondering with baited breath, "Where is he going with this?!" but all ended well! Iain's speech was particularly moving. He had deliberately not written it down because he wanted to speak from the heart and he certainly achieved his goal! The thanks he gave to everyone, especially Charlie and Rachel, couldn't have been more genuine and he spoke candidly about what has been a difficult year for him but how much Rachel and Charlie's support in particular has helped him. His love for them, and his adoration of his new bride, shone through. Kleenex time! 

All the guests commented on what a personal and relaxed day it was and how Rachel and Iain really did it 'their way' without feeling the pressure that there sometimes is to uphold certain traditions and 'pomp'. We had some fun with the group shots too!

The celebrations continued into the night at the Magnet Sports Club which has a big place in the hearts and lives of this cricketing family! 

Highlights of the day were definitely the musical interludes. Anyone who knows Rachel will know how important music is to her and this came through from the bells outside the church to welcome Rachel and her Dad to the isle, Charlie and the gang's bell ringing following the ceremony and then Charlie's piano duets and violin solo at the reception. What a talented family! 

I'm so pleased to have been able to photograph this pretty, relaxed, home-made and heart-felt wedding. Everyone who was there had a ball, me included! Wishing Rachel, Iain and Charlie a lifetime of happiness together.
