Hazlewood Castle Wedding Photographer: Claudia and Connor Pre-Wedding Shoot

Hellooo! Back to blogging! What happened to the sunshine?! Meh!

I had a brilliant pre-wedding shoot on Monday with one of my lovely couples, Claudia and Connor. It turned out that the cool, windy weather worked in my favour as you will see when you see Claudia’s amazing long locks catching the breeze!

It was my first time shooting in the grounds of the stunning Hazlewood Castle and wow! I was blown away by all the different areas to explore. I’m in love with the woodland walks with the magical lighting, the tipi area in the woods and off course the spectacular castle building itself. I’m coming back to shoot a wedding here in July and I can’t wait! The clear-sided marquee looks absolutely beautiful too.

I love meeting my couples before their wedding day for a pre-wedding shoot. It was great to get to know Claudia and Connor more and to talk all things wedding! Their own venue, Aldby Park, is absolutely amazing too so I can’t wait to be there with them next month. This venue only takes 8 weddings a year so I’m really excited about it! It’s normal to feel a bit (or a lot) nervous about having your picture taken - almost everyone does! Nervous laughter is fine - any kind of laughter looks good in the shots! I always try to give couples a few things to do to avoid awkward standing still, and reassure them that it’s about each other, not looking at me.

A pre-wedding shoot takes about an hour usually compared to 20-30 minutes for portraits in total on your wedding day, so once you’ve done a shoot like this, your wedding day photos will be an absolute breeze. Claudia and Connor told me they weren’t feeling relaxed about the shoot at the start but just look at what we achieved..!

I love the way they brought a change of clothes. This is a great idea to achieve some different looks. And bravo to them that they were up for a sneaky clamber through the nearby rapeseed field. It’s always worth a bit of adventure to get shots like these. What a fantastic morning!

Don’t forget, I also love newborn photography too! It’s all super-relaxed and shot in your own home. I’m usually pretty flexible with fitting these in during the week depending when your baby arrives.
