A Newborn Shoot in York: Baby Ezra
This week I re-visited Emma and Gareth, one of my 2021 couples from one of my most memorable weddings, with their beautiful new baby, Ezra. I’ve seen Emma and Gareth a few times now as I shot some of their friends’ weddings too, so it was really brilliant to catch up and we were all very relaxed because we know each other well, which helps with the photos!
I’m sharing their slideshow because I believe it captures the essence of my ethos around newborn photography, which is basically to tell it like it is. Life with a newborn is chaotic: cry, feed, sleep, repeat; boobs, bottles and nappies everywhere! Babies scrunch their faces up and get into funny positions. Their natural state is not smoothed out in a wicker basket with a headband on. And you don’t have to live in a show home to achieve perfect photos.
It’s the tenderness, love and happiness that shines through that makes them perfect in my eyes. And Emma and Gareth have that in spades in these pictures. We just need to get another wedding or baby in the diary so that we can get together again before too long!
